Our Story
Song in the City Charity Trust (SITC) is an artist-led charity directed by Gavin Roberts and Rebecca Cohen that takes classical music out of its comfort zone.
Song in the City uses the power of song to connect people in all parts of our society. Our work uses the talents of professional classical musicians to respond to the world around us, whilst challenging our artists and audiences in creative ways.
We’re passionate about devising interdisciplinary performance projects that connect artists, communities, organisations and audiences. Flagship projects include Creative Minds in Song a collaboration with mental-health charity MIND which sees the creation of new songs set to poetry by mental-health service users. Healthy Lunchbreaks -an acclaimed concert series in the City of London programmed around contemporary themes. Other partnerships include RAMBERT dance company, The National Portrait Gallery and fashion designer Patrick McDowell.
